Rinko-kaku

Rinko-kaku

Rinko-kaku is a 130-year-old Japanese-style building in Maebashi. It was built by the first governor of Gunma, Motohiko Katori (1829-1912) in September of 1884, as the prefectural guest house. Katori took the initiative to fund-raise, and many Gunma citizens donated money for construction of the building. The state guest house consists of three buildings: The main building, the annex, and the tea-ceremony house. Today, the city's VIP guests visits the building every now and then.
