Hinamatsuri (The Doll's Festival) is held on March 3rd. This is a day to pray for young girl's growth and happiness. It is also called "Momo no sekku (Peach Festival)" because of the peach blossom season on the old lunar calendar. Most families with daughters display "Hinaningyo (Special doll for the doll's festival)," and eat traditional festival food such as Chirashi Zushi, Hishi-mochi, Clam Soup, and Hina-arare (rice crackers).
Sweet Kindergartners will wear cute Hinaningyo costumes and sit down on Stone Steps to make it look like a Human Hinaningyo! You should visit and see them.
