Illuminations light up Lake Haruna in winter when things are much quieter as night falls.  The evening extravaganza has been attracting many visitors.  Enjoy a lit up Christmas tree in the middle of the lake reflecting itself on the water surface and other dazzling displays of light and color.


When Between 17:00 and 22:00 hours every evening from Dec. 10 (Thurs.) to 27 (Sun.)

Access By car: Shibukawa-Ikaho Exit of Kanetsu Expressway => Route 17 => Prefectural road 33 (Approx. 20 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes)
By bus: Take Gunma Bus for Lake Haruna at JR Takasaki Station and get off at the last stop. (Approx. an hour and a half)

Takasaki Street Light Pageant

Downtown Takasaki, the city’s landmark, will be dazzlingly illuminated all the way to the JR Takasaki Station, creating a festive mood as Christmas Day nears. Witness the streets leading to the station show a completely different face by the light-up.

Garden of Illuminated Flowers:  Ashikaga Flower Park

The park will be filled with the smiling faces of children.  You will have plenty of time admiring the lit up flowers as the park is open until 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 p.m. on weekends.  Try visiting the illuminated gigantic Japanese wisteria trees, which make you feel like you were in another world.

Yuai-pic Commemorative Pool
(There will be an event on the very day of the winter solstice.)

To observe the Japanese tradition of yuzu orange bath on this day, which is to stay healthy during the cold winter, yuzu oranges will be put in the smaller pool on this day. Complimentary miso-oden or boiled konnyaku with salty-sweet soybean paste on top will be served. (Giveaways are limited in number.)
