Maebashi Children's Park is located in Nishikatakai-machi. The park has the best collection of facilities for children, including many large-scale playground equipment, electric and foot-operated carts, a play pool, and a steam locomotive on display. Take slides as an example. Ten different slides, both small and large, are installed. Another example is the go-carts. There is a 700-meter go-cart circuit. There are single and two-seater go-carts that can go as fast as 14 kilometers per hour. On weekends, go-carts are very popular with family visitors. Small children just love foot-operated go-carts. Go-carts are fun for adults, too. The road in the park is equipped with traffic signals and signs, and children can learn traffic rules while they are playing there. An old SL train is on display, too.
Maebashi-shi Jido Bunka Center (Maebashi City Child Culture Center) was built in 1969 on the park's premises for the purpose of increasing children‘s interest in science and culture as well as bringing children up in good mental and physical health. The Center aims to provide children with places full of mysteries, plays, and experiences whenever they visit them. Specifically, the Center has facilities such as a planetarium, an aquarium, a climbing wall, a library, etc., all of which can be enjoyed without worrying about the weather. The Center offers classes and events of many varieties to the citizens of Maebashi. There is a store in the building that sells snack foods, soft drinks, and toys. This is the place where visitors with small children can have fun all day long. Why not bring a bento lunch with you and go to the Maebashi Children's Park? (There is a convenience store across the street from the park.)
