Gunma Safari Park

Gunma Safari Park

Gunma Safari Park is home to approximately 1,000 animals and birds of all varieties, which come from the continents of Africa, Asia, and North and South America. Living conditions for these animals and birds in the park are being kept as close to their natural habitat as possible, so you can see them living their ordinary lives, so to speak. You can feed the lions and other animals from a bus. The bus driver gives you a guided tour, and the feeding experience can be a highlight of your visit there.

There are many interesting features at the Gunma Safari Park. The Flying Show and the Indonesian Festival are among them. It’s fun to watch the hawks, owls, and parrots take off the hands of a bird trainer and come back to land on them right before your very eyes. The Indonesian Festival is underway until November of this year. Here are some of the attractions. Photos of Indonesia and the TAMAN SAFARI INDONESIA, their Indonesian sister park, are on display, and original T-shirts and stuffed animals from the sister park are on sale. A 4-year-old female orangutan named MUTI is visiting from the sister park for the occasion, and you can hold and take a picture with her. During the festival, the gift shop sells variety goods from Bali, and one of the restaurants serves nasi campur, a typical Indonesian cuisine.

If you drive your own car in the park, you can rent a guided radio. While you are in the "Walking Safari Zone", you can get out of your car and feed the Japanese deer as well as get very close to smaller animals. Other events to interact with the wild animals are also available. One of them is the night safari tour. Many of the animals and birds at the safari park are nocturnal, and, on the tour, you can see a totally different side of them.
